Behind The Artist

Kristi McDonald is a Canadian artist specializing in painting mediums based in Komoka, Ontario. She is known for creating oil paintings that capture the ethereal beauty of coastal landscapes.

Inspired by her travels along the shores of California and the coasts of British Columbia, Kristi's work invites viewers to immerse themselves in nature. With a keen eye for color and composition, she crafts dreamlike scenes that explore the interplay of light, sea, and coastline, capturing the ever-changing moods of the ocean.

Through her paintings, Kristi seeks to forge a deep connection between the viewer and the landscape, reminding us of the transformative power of nature and the importance of finding moments of stillness and reflection in our lives.

Kristi's artistic journey has been marked by numerous achievements, including participation in several group and juried exhibitions, as well as receiving academic and non-academic awards in recognition of her work. In 2015, her work was selected for an international show curated by Janet Werner titled "From Likeness to Fiction," which explored contemporary portraiture. During her final year of post-secondary education, Kristi also organized a solo exhibition that delved into the relationship between representational and non-representational subject matter. Her work has been displayed in several group and juried exhibitions across Canada and she has private collections across North America.

Kristi plans to further develop and explore these themes in her future work, drawing inspiration from her personal experiences and the natural world around her.
